Linkup

Linkup is a beacon for enhancing social interaction and physical well-being. Envisioned as a solution to combat the post-pandemic isolation, it's a hub where users can discover, and create local activities. Fostering a sense of community just got easier. I lead this group project as a UX designer with the "Vegan Burger" team as part of a HCI course.

Problem Statement

As lead UX designer of the Vegan Burgers, I was in charge of creating a user friendly interface for a newfound opportunity gap in social interaction and physical activity. With a detailed survey of over 40 respondents and insightful one-on-one interviews, we uncovered the underlying need for a platform that balances digital connectivity with real-world interaction. Our aim was enabling individuals to prioritise health amidst a hectic lifestyle.

Understanding the user

My design process is rooted in understanding user motivations previous to designing any interface. Through 'Frank's Journey', a persona-based approach, I unraveled the intricate needs of a type of user. This ensures that Linkup is responding to real user needs, empowering them to find their personal fit in the realm of activities and social groups.

Information Architecture

User narratives informed the creation of user journey maps, highlighting key interactions and emotional touchpoints. Insights from these journeys led to the development of flowcharts, which provided a granular view of user navigation and decision points within the app.

Finally, the understanding of the user informed the development of a robust information architecture, ensuring content was organized logically and intuitively, aligning with user expectations for a seamless experience.

Outlook

The presentation of our project at the UTS Tech Fair highlighted its significant potential as an innovative application. This was further underscored by the emergence of similar, albeit nascent, applications in the market. To establish our app as the premier choice, we must focus on several key areas such as Evaluating the app's success requires a multifaceted approach. Key performance indicators should include the safety of the platform, the frequency and success rate of meetups, and the number of repeat events organised. These metrics will provide insights into user engagement and app effectiveness.
